The Bellarmine University baseball team has added nine student-athletes in the early signing period. This is Head Coach Larry Owens' sixth recruiting class with Bellarmine and third with Assistant Coach Nick Eversole as the recruiting coordinator. |
Devin Ecklar
RHP/6'2/190/Madison Central High School (KY)
Ecklar is a right-handed pitcher from Richmond, Kentucky. In 2018 as a junior at Madison Central, he was a key pitcher on a team that won their region and advanced to the state tournament. Ecklar was also selected as an East/West Kentucky all-star.
Owens on Ecklar: "Devin will arrive on campus with advanced pitchability. Strikes are obviously huge and Devin can certainly throw strikes. I'm excited to work with Devin and watch him develop. There is always a learning curve when moving up in levels of baseball; however Devin's ability to command the ball will make that adjustment a little easier. We are very happy to add Devin to our program."
Eversole on Ecklar: "Devin is a very polished pitcher. He's ahead of the game in terms of how he uses his off-speed pitches and the way he can locate all of his pitches. Right now he can pitch in the mid-80s, and we're optimistic that'll improve and in turn, his offspeed pitches will be more effective as well. Devin has the potential to be a starting pitcher for us and we're very excited."
